ð So first off one
of my favorite moments from this week was when I was calling home and my
brother Ammon asked me "how do you say 'Merry Christmas' in Korean??"
haha, so i'll tell the rest of ya too. it's written ëĐëĶŽ íŽëĶŽėĪë§ėĪ
but for those who can't read it it's pronounced "MaeRi KeRiSeMaSe"...
just one of the blessed things about Korean ;)
HOW WAS YOUR GUY'S WEEK??? Mine was pretty good! I'll just
keep it to 3 main things, okay?? ;)
First off, it was christmas! What a wonderful holiday!! We
had a missionary meeting, and we were able to meet and have lunch with 2 of the
people we are teaching. So even though christmas is just another day of work
for us missionaries, we were able to have that appointment and that was great!
ALSO something I found kind of funny, was that we got a call from our bishop
christmas night telling us to come out of our apartment so he could give
us something. So we went down and he gave us a box of pastry things as a little
christmas gift, which was really nice of him. but as we were going back in, we
looked at what it was and it was "green tea sandwafers"! haha, first
off the bishop didn't actually realize what he bought, he just bought it real
quick to give it to us, so I just thought it was funny the bishop gave us some
"green tea sandwafers" haha, but it was all figured out in the end,
haha. But he is such a great man and we are grateful for all he does!
Second! We had another Mission Christmas Choir concert, and
it was so great! The spirit really is just invited through song, so it was a
great experience. We did it for the members in a small Member District, so
there probably weren't more than 50 or so people there, but they all
appreciated it so much, so that's just what missionary work is all about, making
others happy!
Last One: We were able to see one of our people step onto
the covenant path yesterday through baptism. The ward was so helpful, and our
friend Brother H...... had a great experience. He talked about how although he
didn't know too much, he was gonna try and do his best! So it was so nice to
see someone get baptized, especially after working for so hard here for the
past few months.
The Lord is merciful. Please don't let the spirit of
christmas pass away with the date. Always remember why the Savior was sent
here. Be Grateful!

Santa came ðð
Our christmas performance
The wondeful Korean members ð♂️ð
What a week! This week was basically our week of christmas
celebrations! It was pretty busy too.
First off Last monday we had a like sports Day for the
missionaries, so we Just like got together, played some relay games,
volleyball, and soccer. We also got these SWEET new mission t-shirts. AND
another elder gave me a pair of toe socks as a gift ð
pretty legendary
We also had our zone conference this past week, so it was
nice to finish that, cause we'd been planning that for a while. But president
Jeong said it was the Best one he went to! So it turned out to be pretty good!
also each missionary team did a christmas performance, and that was
pretty good. I dont have a video of ours yet, but we tapped bells onto each
other and played christmas song with them.
Also as zone leaders we have to do the interviews for our
district leader's people being taught, so we went and did some of those this
past week, and i am Just very thankful for the help of the Holy Ghost during
those interviews.
Our ward also did a christmas party, so of course us
missionaries performed a fun play thing for them that they all really
liked.
We also have one person Who is on schedule to be baptized
this upcoming sunday, so we are really praying for him! He's just such a pure
person, so it would be so great for him to be baptized.
QUESTION!!! i would love to hear from all or any of you, you
can answer really simply or deeply, whatever you want.
This christmas season, what is one gift that you can give to
the Savior?
Love you all,
Elder Hanks

Not too much time today, if I don't get back to your email,
take this apology in advance please ~
It's been a pretty great week! first off, one of the people
we are teaching is someone who found us and wanted to learn English. So we
teach him English first, then we do a gospel lesson. He has been improving so
much! We meet him 2 times a week and he's just doing great!
We met him this last week and the spirit was great, so we
extended and he accepted a baptism for the 29th of this month. So we are really
praying for him!
Also 2 other people we are teaching are a father and son who
a sister referred to us. Not only is he sister now fully active
with her while family now, but they also accepted a baptismal invitation for
the 5th of January! So we are super excited for the both of them.
It's just so amazing how the Lord is preparing His children
to accept the gospel. Please send a prayer or 2 for these wonderful 3 people.
Brother H...., Brother S...., and his son.
One spiritual experience we had: as we were teaching brother H...... and he accepted the invitation. He also talked about when he attended his
other church, there was a lot of doctrine he didn't understand. Like "why
do nice people who don't know about the gospel go to he'll?" and other
stuff. But he said as he was learning from us, it just made sense to him. And
one of my favorite things that he said was like "this is the God that I
imagined he would be, more like a father" , the spirit was so tender.
The gospel's so true. Don't doubt it. There's no reason to
doubt, but there is so much reason to believe!
Love you all,
Elder Hanks

Dec 8 2019 – “I feel naked”
Yeah i'm sure that got most of you to open up the email this
time, haha.
So it's been a pretty great week! we're meeting some people, getting some lessons taught, and teaching about Jesus! What could be better!!
So it's been a pretty great week! we're meeting some people, getting some lessons taught, and teaching about Jesus! What could be better!!
Some Highlights:
- a member
asked what food I missed from home, so I said lasagna, and next time
we went over to her house, she made me some lasagna! Sweet!
- It
actually snowed over here!
- A
wonderful member bought me some protein powder when she went to Costco!
- Each
missionary gets their own phone starting next week.
- The gospel
is true!
Just a few lowlights:
- It only
snowed for a little bit, and didn't stick at all...
- We don't
get the sweet new ring and vial all the youth get
- it's been
in the negative degrees a few times
- i spilled
some hot choco on some of my books
- milk
expires really fast for some dumb reason
One miracle we had this past week was that we had 4 people
at church yesterday!! that's a pretty big miracle being in korea, so that was
awesome! We did a lesson with 2 of them after, it's a father and his son, and
we are just really praying and hoping for them to come into the gospel
together! (Send your prayers!ð)
Funny experience: So it's been pretty cold recently, like we
bundle up with thermals, long sleeve, suit jacket, and winter coats, but it's
still cold. So we're waiting to cross a street when my companion Elder Kim just
suddenly says (in English) "I feel naked" haha, I just died laughing
it was just like the perfect moment
funny thing pt. 2: We're studying in a park when an old guy
come up to us and starts talking. And this is like one of the old guys who
comes up and talks for like a solid 30 minutes straight unless you say
something. So it was pretty hard to follow everything he was saying, but then
one this that i clearly understood is when he took a step back and said "I
am the center of the Universe!"... i had to hold back a laugh right there,
but it was a good moment.
Last thing: one of the people we are teaching is someone who
found us somehow to learn english. So we teach him english and then do
discussions with him, and he is just so humble and accepts it all so well, so
we are also just really praying that he get baptized (hopefully be the end of
the month) too.
Love you all,
Elder Hanks
Pics (there's some good ones for ya today) merry Christmas!
Dec 1 2019
We've had a great week over here in blessed Korea! Elder Kim
and I are working great together and we think we're gonna see some good
miracles this transfer.
I guess first off it was thanksgiving, not here, but back in
the states. But I just decided to send it and cooked up a hearty meal fit for 2
young guys living on their own ð but went full American
style so Elder Kim could get a little 'taste' of American style food. I'll
attach a picture below
As zone Leaders we usually make a thing called zone culture
for the missionaries in our zone to do, to help them enjoy the work and do
effective activities. So we made a #LightTheWorld calendar with things to do
everyday. Anyways that got brought up in our mission leadership, and
President Jeong had copies made and given to all the other Zone leaders too, so
I think our zone culture became kind of like a mission culture!
One funny thing was we met this guy on the street who turned
out to be slightly drunk. He liked us though so insisted he buy us drinks, but
he was a little confused when we told him we don't drink, haha. But he kept
insisting and gave me a lot of hugs. And then before he left he asked if we
wanted his phone number ð so it was a fun
conversation
Church of the week: the church I saw this week was "The
Scent Church"... Yeah it doesn't really make sense to me either...
We've been able to meet some new people recently that seem
to have some potential, so we're excited for this next transfer. Also it's
December, so make sure you all #LightTheWorld
Much love,
Elder Hanks

We have had an unlimited supply of oranges for at least the
past month because of our wonderful members!!
